GalaxE.Solutions, Inc., reinforcing its vision of Downtown Detroit as a healthcare IT hub and an alternative to work going offshore, has issued a limited edition, Robert Stanzler-created “Outsource to Detroit” t-shirt in conjunction with Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit. The shirts are free with a donation to Goodwill, the only organization in Southeast Michigan solely dedicated to helping Metro Detroiters overcome employment challenges and earn jobs. The initiative and its message symbolizes Detroit’s continued rebirth.
Arriving at 1001 Woodward Avenue in Campus Martius in April 2010, GalaxE.Solutions is hiring 500 skilled IT workers in downtown Detroit. To date, more than 100 have been hired with immediate openings for 200 additional professionals – well ahead of original estimates and a sign that the “Outsource to Detroit” model is a successful and growing with companies nationwide. Chairman and CEO Tim Bryan also is speaking around the country as well as working closely with state and municipal leaders to promote the merits of Detroit for business and opportunities for employment for young professionals.
“Detroit, is an iconic city with a tremendous history of engineering and technological innovation and hard working professionals with outstanding skills,” said Bryan. “Add in existing infrastructure, geography, and other economic and political considerations and, for perhaps the first time ever, high-level health care-focused IT work can be done in the Motor City at a cost differential of offshore locations of only 5-10 percent.”
“Outsource to Detroit” t-shirts are available free with a donation of $10 or more via the following:
- Goodwill Industries’ flagship upscale resale store at 41937 Ford Road in Canton, Michigan
- Goodwill Industries’ Ben & Jerry’s Partnership at 1014 Woodward Avenue in Detroit in the Compuware building
- Visiting Goodwill Industries online at: www.goodwilldetroit.org (postage/handling charges apply)
- Calling Goodwill at: 1-313-557-8791(postage/handling charges apply)
The t-shirts were produced by Detroit-based Detroit Manufacturing and celebrated street wear designer Robert Stanzler, who, since 1991, has explored Detroit’s identity through design. Stanzler created and developed the “Made in Detroit” logo/brand, subsequently purchased by Kid Rock. T-shirt donations support Goodwill job creation, training and placement programs that support Detroit area residents as they become “Trained, Trusted and Ready to Work.”
Said Lorna G. Utley, President and CEO, Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit: “GalaxE is a Goodwill corporate partner with a shared, vital mission. Our organizations share the resolve to motivate corporations to heed the call and recognize the tremendous opportunities that exist to do business in Detroit which will, in turn, serve to put people back to work.”
Added Bryan: “Our clients from outside of Michigan recognize that doing work in Detroit is good business. We are connecting the dots between displaced American workers and work that needs to be done – the next generation of healthcare-related IT technology at reduced price points – here in the United States. It is also a great example of being socially conscious of employment challenges and hardships. We want to continue to build on our efforts.”
